Kerala HC Seeks Govt Response on Blocking NoCap’s Facebook Page

The Kerala High Court on October 26 sought responses from the Union and Kerala governments regarding directions to Meta Platforms to block the Malayalam digital news platform NoCap’s Facebook page. The court admitted a petition by NoCap’s chief editor Hyder Ali K and directed notice to Meta. NoCap’s page was restricted on September 28 following a government notice under IT Act Section 79(3)(b). The next hearing is on November 5.

Delhi HC refuses to stay probe into journalists accused of casteist remarks on ACP...

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday declined to stay the investigation into two journalists accused of making casteist remarks against ACP Vivek Bhagat. The journalists allegedly humiliated the officer and obstructed his duties during an October 3 protest. Justice Mini Pushkarna said the investigation cannot be stayed without reviewing the Delhi Police's status report. The court issued notice on the petition seeking quashing of the FIR against the journalists.

Due to Cyclone Arnab, Odisha has ordered the closure of schools and Anganwadi centres in Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur districts starting October 27. In Khordha, schools will close from 1 PM on October 27 through October 28. Teachers must remain on premises with roster duties to manage cyclone impact. The OCS Mains exam has been rescheduled as a precaution.
