Kerala Fisherfolk Present Marine Biodiversity Register at CBD COP17

At the UN biodiversity conference CBD COP17 in Yerevan, Kerala fisherfolk showcased a digital marine biodiversity register to address omissions in the 2017 Kerala State Biodiversity Board report. Marine researcher Robert Panippilla highlighted that indigenous knowledge was excluded due to scientific oversight. Between 2013 and 2015, local fishers documented over 2,000 species and traditional knowledge from 69 community members off Thiruvananthapuram's coast.

Moscow to Host 2030 World Weightlifting Championships

Moscow will host the 2030 World Weightlifting Championships, the first major Olympic sports event awarded to Russia since its 2022 invasion of Ukraine, the International Weightlifting Federation announced. Ahmedabad, India, will host the 2029 edition. The 2030 Moscow event will also serve as a qualifier for the 2032 Olympics. Russian Weightlifting Federation president Aleksandr Vinokurov praised Russia's infrastructure and experience for hosting.

Man and Friends Arrested for IED Attack on Cousin in Bengaluru
