On October 29, Kerala Crime Branch Police arrested R Premkumar, founder chairman of Bharath Lajhna Multi State Cooperative Society, from his Chennai residence. The Economic Offences Wing in Kozhikode is probing allegations that Premkumar diverted Rs 300 crore of society funds to private accounts, using the money to buy resorts and theatres. Premkumar was hospitalized after complaining of discomfort post-arrest.
