The Kerala Assembly passed an amendment to the Kerala Court Fees and Suits Valuation Act, stating that additional court fees paid in cases settled out of court will not be refunded. Moved by Chief Minister V D Satheesan, the amendment addresses difficulties in refunding fees collected under alternative dispute resolution as per Section 89 of the Civil Procedure Code, 1908. Previously, collected fees were allocated to welfare funds, complicating refunds.
