Kenya Reports Second Ebola Death, Relative of First Patient

Kenya's Health Ministry confirmed the country's second Ebola death on October 23, 2026. The 65-year-old woman, a close relative of the first Ebola patient, developed symptoms while in quarantine and received treatment at an infectious disease unit in Nairobi. Despite medical efforts, she died on the evening of October 23. Seven other patients remain in isolation with no new infections reported.

World's First Spinal Cord Transplant Performed in Russia

A joint Chinese-Russian medical team performed the world's first spinal cord transplant on a paralysed patient in Moscow. The 12-hour surgery replaced a damaged spinal cord section with tissue from a brain-dead donor using microsurgery and polyethylene glycol to fuse cell membranes.
