Kentucky Sinks 1,700 Christmas Trees to Restore Fish Habitats
In 2026, Kentucky collected about 5,000 discarded Christmas trees to restore underwater habitats in aging lakes. As part of the 'Christmas for the Fishes' program, around 1,700 trees were submerged in Boltz Lake. These trees provide shelter and feeding areas for fish, replacing decayed natural structures and enhancing recreational fishing opportunities.
