In Kashmir, apple growers are accelerating harvest efforts by hiring extra labor and extending working hours due to forecasts of rain, gusty winds, and possible hail. Families, including women, are increasingly involved in picking, sorting, and packing. The Meteorological Centre Srinagar advises safe storage of harvested crops. Kashmir produced 21.4 lakh metric tonnes of apples in 2023, supporting 3.5 million livelihoods and contributing 6–7% to the region's GDP.
