Karnataka to Regulate Hospital Bills and Prevent Body Withholding

The Karnataka government will introduce measures to control excessive hospital bills, regulate medicine mark-ups, and improve transparency in treatment costs, announced Health Minister UT Khader on October 22. Hospitals must display major procedure rates at reception from November 1 and keep a register for other procedures. A policy will also prevent hospitals from withholding deceased patients' bodies over unpaid bills. PHANA has agreed to these proposals.
