TechnologyKarnataka to Launch Unified Smart Fare System for Four Bus Corporations
Karnataka is implementing a unified smart ticketing system for fare collection across its four state transport corporations: KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC, and KKRTC. This system will integrate with Namma Metro, suburban rail, and other public transport. It includes chip-based smart cards for fare-paying and free-travel passengers under the Shakti scheme. KSRTC has invited bids for a system integrator, with deadlines in late October and early November. The system will enable contactless, interoperable fare collection and centralized settlement.
