Karnataka plans to establish nine integrated industrial townships in the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region, covering 13,500 acres. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that 7,900 acres have been acquired, with 5,600 acres pending acquisition. The initiative aims to boost economic development, with all Bengaluru Urban district areas to come under the Greater Bengaluru Authority. The state targets a $1 trillion economy by 2047 and $400-420 billion by 2037.
