The Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association has urged the government to shift midday meal preparation to cluster kitchens to reduce teachers' non-academic workload. Currently, teachers handle tasks like updating student consumption data and attendance for meal schemes, which takes about an hour daily. The association suggested replicating NGO-style centralized kitchens for clusters of 15-20 schools, especially in villages, to save manpower and ease teachers' clerical burden.
