Karnataka sugarcane farmers, led by Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene, accepted the Rs 3,600 per tonne price announced by Minister Satish Jarkiholi for Belagavi district. They agreed to withdraw protests after sugar factories accepted a profit-sharing formula linked to sugar price increases. Farmers demanded the same price statewide, citing drought hardships. The crushing season will start Friday with the new price based on Rs 45 per kg sugar price.
