After a 37-year hiatus, student union elections are returning to Karnataka colleges, reopening a vital democratic space on campuses. The government will conduct elections in government, aided, and private colleges under the Department of Collegiate Education, following J M Lyngdoh Committee guidelines. Candidates must have 75% attendance, no criminal record, and adhere to strict rules banning money power, gifts, and provocative campaigning. Women have reserved seats in the union executive.
