Karnataka's Kharif Grain Output Projected to Fall 40% in 2026-27

Karnataka's kharif foodgrain production is projected at 68.87 lakh tonnes in 2026-27, a 40% decline from 2024-25 and 45% from the 2025-26 target. The area under cultivation is expected to drop to 41.03 lakh hectares from 51.35 lakh hectares in 2025-26. Rice, the staple crop, is worst affected with production estimated at 17.84 lakh tonnes, down from 46.37 lakh tonnes in 2025-26.
