Karnataka Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which reduced voters from 5.54 crore to 4.55 crore by deleting nearly 1 crore names. He stated the deletions were due to voters being dead, shifted, or duplicates. Jarkiholi said Karnataka's SIR was conducted properly, unlike in West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Bihar, where Congress opposed the exercise.
