Karnataka Man in South Korea Gets Income Tax Notice Over Dollar Salary
A Karnataka man working in South Korea received an income tax notice in India because his salary was paid in dollars and deposited into an NRE account. The Income Tax Assessing Officer claimed the salary was taxable in India due to his employment. However, the ITAT Bangalore ruled that the man had established his non-resident status, exempting him from Indian tax on this income.
