Karnataka HC Rules State Police Must Respect Local Jurisdiction in Inter-State Probes
The Karnataka High Court ruled that police officers from one state conducting investigations in another must respect the jurisdiction and responsibilities of the local police and follow constitutional and legal safeguards. Justice Suraj Govindaraj invalidated an inter-state probe by Maharashtra police against two Tumakuru-based paan masala firms. The case involved interception of a truck suspected of carrying prohibited tobacco products on August 19, 2025, in Kolhapur district.
