Karnataka Halts New Private PU Colleges for Three Years

The Karnataka government has decided not to approve new private pre-university (PU) colleges for the next three academic years, from 2027-28 to 2029-30. The Department of School Education and Literacy issued a draft notification inviting suggestions within 15 days. This move follows demands from the Karnataka State PU College Lecturers’ Association due to many vacant PU seats annually. Currently, over 6,000 PU colleges operate in the state.

4 Killed, 11 Injured in Italian Helicopter Crash in Bosnia

An Italian military helicopter crashed in Gorice village, Brcko district, Bosnia, killing four and injuring 11 during an EU peacekeeping mission.
