Karnataka Govt Takes Steps to Mitigate Drought Impact in Belagavi
The Karnataka state government is actively addressing drought effects in Belagavi district, where only 10% of the rabi season cultivable land has been sown due to drought. While kharif sowing reached 99.7% of the target, crops suffered water stress. Fourteen taluks are drought-affected, with crop damage over 5.04 lakh hectares. A ₹680.32 crore compensation proposal has been sent to the Centre, and interim relief has been released.
