Karnataka Transport Minister Bayarathi Suresh defended the recent bus fare hike, stating it aims to financially support public transport bodies like KSRTC and BMTC, not to make profits. Citing similar fare increases in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, he explained that the decision helps sustain these corporations amid rising diesel prices. Luxury and AC bus fares, including the Vayu Vajra airport service, were adjusted competitively, with the maximum fare raised from ₹405 to ₹425.
