Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced ₹100 crore for constructing a Gandhi Smaraka in Belagavi, where Mahatma Gandhi presided over the 1924 Congress session. The funds will be included in the next state budget. Shivakumar also inaugurated the Gandhi Digital Museum in Bengaluru and announced that Gandhi Memorial Pillars will be erected at all Karnataka sites visited by Gandhi before Gandhi Jayanti 2027.
