Kamal Haasan's 'Sandiyar' Title Sparks Caste Controversy Again
On his 72nd birthday, Kamal Haasan revealed the title and poster of his new film, Sandiyar. The title, meaning "rebel" or "rogue," revives a two-decade-old controversy. Haasan had initially used the title for his 2003 film, later renamed Virumaandi after political pressure. Puthiya Tamilagam founder Dr. K. Krishnasamy objected, calling the title revival an "act of revenge."
