Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty Elevated as Telangana HC Chief Justice

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty of Calcutta High Court for elevation as Chief Justice of Telangana High Court. The recommendation was made on October 27, 2026. Justice Chakraborty practiced law for 22 years before becoming an Additional Judge of Calcutta High Court in 2013 and a permanent Judge in 2016. The Collegium also recommended Telangana HC Acting Chief Justice P. Sam Koshy as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.

Delhi HC refuses to stay probe into journalists accused of casteist remarks on ACP...

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday declined to stay the investigation into two journalists accused of making casteist remarks against ACP Vivek Bhagat. The journalists allegedly humiliated the officer and obstructed his duties during an October 3 protest. Justice Mini Pushkarna said the investigation cannot be stayed without reviewing the Delhi Police's status report. The court issued notice on the petition seeking quashing of the FIR against the journalists.

Due to Cyclone Arnab, Odisha has ordered the closure of schools and Anganwadi centres in Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur districts starting October 27. In Khordha, schools will close from 1 PM on October 27 through October 28. Teachers must remain on premises with roster duties to manage cyclone impact. The OCS Mains exam has been rescheduled as a precaution.
