JPC to Hold First Meeting on FCRA Amendment Bill on September 18

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to examine the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, will hold its first meeting on September 18. The 31-member panel is headed by BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal. The government moved the motion to constitute the panel on August 12 during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The Opposition has demanded the Bill's withdrawal, alleging it targets minority-run institutions. Ministry of Home Affairs officials will brief the JPC members at the meeting.
