BusinessJNPA Secures $70M IFC Blue Financing for Cleaner Ship Operations
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has secured $70 million in blue financing from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to enable ships to switch off diesel generators while berthed and use shore power. The ₹650 crore project aims to cut carbon emissions by 63%, reduce air pollution by up to 90%, and create over 400 jobs. It is India's first blue-financing framework for maritime and the first such port infrastructure financing in Asia-Pacific, aligned with the Indian Ports Act, 2025.
