Jio and Airtel Add Over 5.3 Million Mobile Users in September

India's mobile subscriber base surpassed 1.3 billion in September 2026, with telecom operators adding a net 6.57 million wireless subscribers. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel led the growth, gaining 2.71 million and 2.69 million users respectively. BSNL added 626,000 subscribers, Vodafone Idea 550,000, while MTNL lost 6,628 subscribers. The total wireless subscriber base grew from 1,293.43 million in August to 1.3 billion in September, a 0.51% monthly increase.
