Jay-Z's $2M Uber Investment Grew to $70M by 2019 IPO
In 2013, rapper Jay-Z invested $2 million in Uber when it was a growing startup. By the time Uber went public in 2019, his stake was estimated to be worth about $70 million, roughly 35 times his initial investment. Despite attempts to buy more shares, Uber's CEO Travis Kalanick declined. Jay-Z's net worth then was around $1 billion, making him the first hip-hop artist to reach that milestone.
