Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched its Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission on October 20 from Tanegashima island. The probe will travel to Mars over a year, land on Phobos, collect at least ten grams of rock and dust, and return samples to Earth by 2031. Scientists hope to solve the mystery of Mars’s moons’ origins and learn more about the planet.
