ITBP Overhauls Training and Combat Strategy Along China Border

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is revamping its training and operational strategy following recent border tensions with China. ITBP Director-General Shatrujeet Kapur praised the newly raised Shaurya Commandos for their exemplary performance during ongoing face-offs in Arunachal Pradesh. The ITBP, formed after the 1962 Indo-China war, is also set to establish 10 all-women units to strengthen border security.

World's First Spinal Cord Transplant Performed in Russia

A joint Chinese-Russian medical team performed the world's first spinal cord transplant on a paralysed patient in Moscow. The 12-hour surgery replaced a damaged spinal cord section with tissue from a brain-dead donor using microsurgery and polyethylene glycol to fuse cell membranes. The patient had been paralysed for three years. The operation took place at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine.
