ITAT Delhi Rules UK Per Diem Payments Not Taxable in India
Mr. Saxena from Bommenahalli Village, Bangalore Rural, received Rs 16 lakh as per diem payments from a multinational company's Indian branch while working in the UK. He did not report this income in his Indian tax return and faced a tax notice. The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) Delhi ruled these payments are not taxable under the India-UK DTAA but criticized him for not reporting them in his UK tax return.
