Italy's government held emergency talks with intelligence chiefs following cyberattacks on supermarket freezer systems across at least nine European countries. The attacks disrupted refrigeration in Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Sweden, forcing some retailers to discard spoiled food. The EU warned these were deliberate attempts to disrupt the food supply chain and undermine consumer confidence. Italy's cabinet undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano led the meeting with cybersecurity officials.
