PoliticsIran Executes Man for Attacking Police in Protests
Iran executed Siavash Jamshidi, convicted of firing a military-grade weapon at police during anti-government protests earlier in 2026. The protests, peaking in January, resulted in over 3,000 deaths, which Iranian authorities blamed on US and Israeli-backed terrorism. Jamshidi was sentenced to death for moharebeh, conspiracy, and other charges. Iran has increased executions linked to the unrest since then.
