Iowa Farmers Convert Hog Barns into Mushroom Business
Two Iowa farmers from the Faaborg family have transformed their former hog barns, once housing about 8,000 pigs annually, into a specialty mushroom business. After ending their animal-farming contract in October 2022, they now grow lion's mane and oyster mushrooms in the repurposed infrastructure, marking a significant shift from decades of hog farming.
