Indonesian Students Protest Rising Living Costs and Forest Fires
Hundreds of students protested across Indonesian cities including Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Pekanbaru, and Makassar against rising living costs, frequent forest fires, and corruption. The protests coincided with President Prabowo Subianto's two-year tenure. Forest fires in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua, worsened by El Niño, have caused toxic haze affecting health, flights, and schools, spreading to Singapore and Malaysia.
