Indiana Man Builds 11-Building Hobbit-Inspired Fantasy Village

Rick Sparks, a Tolkien fan from Indiana, originally planned to build a single Hobbit-style house on his 3½-acre property near Connersville as a weekend retreat. Over seven years, the project expanded into Rackshire, an 11-building fantasy village with rounded doors, turf roofs, and stone fireplaces made from recycled materials. Purchased in 2018 for $17,000, the site hosted a festival in 2021 attracting over 3,000 visitors. Sparks plans to add 15 to 20 more buildings.
