Indian scientists have developed a new nano-drug to protect newborns from brain damage caused by severe jaundice. The drug, made from manganese oxide nanoparticles coated with citrate, can be given orally in liquid form. It helps reduce deaths and the need for blood transfusions by binding bilirubin in the blood and converting it into substances excreted through urine and stool.
