Indian Railways is creating dedicated passenger holding areas called Yatri Suvidha Kendras at major stations nationwide to ease congestion during peak times, including festivals. This follows a deadly stampede at New Delhi Railway Station in February 2025 that killed 18. The initiative started with five stations, including New Delhi, and expanded to 55 more. These areas provide space for unticketed and waiting passengers to decongest platforms and station approaches.
