The Indian Patent Office has rejected a patent application by the U.S.-based TB Alliance for BPaL, a six-month all-oral treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis. The decision was welcomed by the Delhi Network of Positive People, Sankalp Rehabilitation Trust, and Third World Network. BPaL, recommended by WHO, offers a shorter treatment course than older regimens, easing patient burden.
