Indian Oil to Buy Crude and LPG Ships Amid West Asia Shipping Crisis
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) plans to acquire its own crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers due to shipping disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz and rising freight costs. The IOC board has approved purchasing several vessels, with tenders issued months ago. Director of Finance Anuj Jain highlighted volatile crude prices and projected LPG under-recoveries of ₹309 and ₹370 per cylinder for November and December. IOC is also considering building ships in India under the Make in India initiative.
