PoliticsIndian Navy to Commission First MPV Samarthak and ASW-SWC Mangrol in October
The Indian Navy will commission two new indigenous vessels in October: the Multi-Purpose Vessel Samarthak and the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft Mangrol. Built at Larsen and Toubro's Kattupalli shipyard with over 75% domestic components, Samarthak will serve as a trial platform for next-gen naval systems and support maritime surveillance and disaster relief. Mangrol enhances coastal anti-submarine capabilities amid rising underwater threats.
