WorldIndian Coast Guard Rescues 23 from Distressed Chemical Tanker off Odisha
The Indian Coast Guard rescued 23 crew members from the foreign chemical tanker MT Seagull 9, which was in distress about 37 nautical miles east-southeast of Paradip, Odisha. The tanker, carrying 9,000 metric tons of palm oil under the Belize flag, faced engine failure and rapid water ingress in its ballast tank on September 27. The Coast Guard's damage control team used advanced equipment to control leaks and pump out water, preventing the tanker from capsizing.
