Indian astronomers have detected radio signals from atomic hydrogen in galaxies that existed 8-9 billion years ago, addressing why star formation declined sharply after peaking around eight billion years ago. Using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, they aim to measure atomic hydrogen, the primary fuel for star formation, to better understand galaxy evolution over time.
