PoliticsIndian Air Force Chief Warns Need for 40 Fighter Jets Annually
Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal AP Singh expressed serious concern over the declining strength of fighter squadrons during his annual press conference. He stated that the Air Force needs to induct 36 to 40 aircraft annually, equivalent to about two squadrons, to maintain and increase strength. Delays in defense programs directly harm operational capability, and technological delays mean rejecting technology. Programs like Tejas Mark-1A, Mark-2, the 114-aircraft MRFA, and the fifth-generation AMCA are crucial. No decision has been made on Russia's Su-57 offer yet.
