BusinessPhoto: MintIndia to Meet 90% of Domestic Urea Demand by 2030
India plans to increase its annual urea production capacity by 13.7 million tonnes to about 43.7 million tonnes by 2030. This expansion aims to meet 90% of the projected domestic demand of 48.61 million tonnes, reducing import dependence and protecting farmers from global price volatility. Currently, domestic production meets 75% of demand, with imports filling the rest. The move could save $500 million annually in foreign exchange for every million tonnes produced domestically.
