The Indian government plans to make Automatic Emergency Braking Systems (AEBS) mandatory in all new car models from October 2030 to reduce road accidents. The rule may extend to existing models by October 2032. For new trucks and buses, AEBS will be required from January 2027. This technology, part of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, uses sensors and cameras to detect obstacles and apply brakes automatically if the driver fails to respond, enhancing road safety.
