The Indian government has mandated telecom operators to implement Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) by November 1, 2026. CNAP will display the caller's name alongside their number on 4G and 5G phones by default, helping users identify callers without third-party apps. Initially, it will not cover 2G, 3G, or public switched telephone networks, which will be reviewed separately.
