India to Implement Bharat Stage VII Emission Norms from 2029

India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved a draft schedule for Bharat Stage VII emission standards, aligned with Europe's Euro 7, starting April 2029. The rollout will be phased: light goods vehicles in April 2030, buses and heavy commercial vehicles in April 2031, and final phase by April 2035. New rules will regulate brake-particle and tyre abrasion emissions, including for electric vehicles. The draft is open for public consultation before finalization.
