India to Implement Barrier-Free FASTag Tolling by 2027

India plans to introduce barrier-free tolling using Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) technology on national highways by March 2027. This system will allow vehicles to pass toll points at normal speeds while automatically deducting tolls via FASTag and ANPR cameras. Over 70% of toll booths are expected to have MLFF by December, advancing beyond the current FASTag system that requires vehicles to slow down at toll plazas.
