The Indian government has approved the implementation of an Automatic Traffic Management System (ATMS) on nearly 1,000 kilometers of national highways. This system will use advanced cameras, artificial intelligence, sensors, and real-time data to monitor traffic violations such as overspeeding above 120 km/h and improper lane changes. Violators will receive automatic e-challans at their homes, reducing the need for physical police presence on highways. Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced this at a CCI conference.
