ScienceIndia Successfully Destroyed Its Own Satellite in 2019 Test
In March 2019, India completed a successful anti-satellite missile test called Mission Shakti by kinetically intercepting one of its own satellites. This achievement made India the fourth country after the US, Russia, and China to publicly conduct such a test. Former US Air Force intelligence officer David Grusch revealed that the US was shocked by this event, mainly due to the debris cloud threatening orbiting US spy satellites and the International Space Station. NASA tracked over 270 debris pieces, some posing temporary risks to the ISS.
